30–40 minutes is the climb up. Add time for the descent and a stop at the summit. Choose the summit if seeing the crater is your priority. The lower coast is the better choice for less uphill walking, but the entire free area is not flat.

What to eat nearby

Haenyeo are Jeju’s women divers, who gather seafood underwater. The area has restaurants run by haenyeo. Jeonbokjuk (전복죽) is rice porridge with cooked abalone; using the innards can give it a green colour.

The dishes below are examples introduced in tourism information. Confirm the day’s menu and opening with each restaurant.

Pick’s suggested itinerary

  1. 01

    Seongsan Ilchulbong

Climb to the summit or walk the free coast. For the summit, leave time for the descent and a rest as well as the climb.

  2. 02

    A meal & Gwangchigi Beach

Choose Seopji Haenyeo’s House if continuing south, or Ojo Haenyeo’s House for a northbound return. Add the beach for a view of the peak.

  3. 03

    Seopjikoji

Walk towards the lighthouse. Shorten this stop if the Ilchulbong stairs have already used up your group’s energy.

This order is an editorial suggestion with bus or taxi transfers. It is not a single walking route connecting every place.
