Seomun Market by day and night: days, hours and rain closures
Seomun Night Market operates Friday–Saturday 19:00–23:30 and Sunday 19:00–22:30; it is regularly closed Monday–Thursday. The daytime destination listing gives 09:00–18:00 and closure on the first and third Sundays, with shop-level differences. Dated weather and event notices can change a visit.
- Sunday night ends one hour earlier
- Daytime Sunday closures do not define night-market days
- Performance and stall hours are separate schedules
Visit daytime shops for fabrics, clothing and kitchenware, and evening stalls for street food. A daytime shop closing does not mean the same business continues trading as a night-market stall.
Shop, stall and performance hours
| Area or schedule | Listed hours | Closure or conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Daytime market | 09:00–18:00 | First and third Sundays; varies by shop |
| Night stalls: Friday–Saturday | 19:00–23:30 | Regularly closed Monday–Thursday |
| Night stalls: Sunday | 19:00–22:30 | Dated weather/event notices take priority |
| Past programme · 9–11 Oct | 19:20–20:00 / 20:20–21:00 / 21:20–22:00 | The 9–11 October 2026 programme has ended. These performance times are a record of those dates, not a promise of next week’s shows. Current regular stall hours are separate from the programme. |
KTO’s destination page lists daytime 09:00–18:00, while its market feature lists 10:00–19:00. A single daytime timetable cannot establish every shop’s actual hours. Check the specific shop if it is the reason for your trip.
The listed stall window is four and a half hours on Friday–Saturday and three and a half on Sunday. This does not promise that every dish or order remains available until closing.
Sunday and weekday differences
Do not apply daytime closure on the first and third Sundays to the night market. In October 2026 these Sundays are 4 and 18 October. The night market has its own Sunday schedule; date-specific changes still apply.
There is no regular night market Monday–Thursday. A public holiday alone does not establish an extra opening. Daytime closure arrangements can differ by district and shop.
Holiday openings and rain closures
Chuseok, Korea’s autumn harvest holiday, had a dated exception. A 17 September notice named 24–27 September, and the 22 September schedule specified an extra Thursday opening on 24 September, 19:00–22:30. This was not a change to every Thursday.
The 9–11 October performance caption still contains the Chuseok Thursday-opening wording. It identifies no October Thursday date. Keep the current Monday–Thursday closure rule separate from the explicitly dated 24 September exception.
The official homepage retains a rain-closure notice for 17 July 2026, a Friday. A regular operating day can therefore be cancelled. Before departure, use notices for your visit date on the operator site or official account, or contact 053-710-6353.
Getting there on Metro Line 3
Seomun Market is around 큰장로26길45, 중구, 대구 /45 Keunjang-ro 26-gil, Jung-gu, Daegu. Search 서문야시장 or 서문시장역. The operator’s recent performance notice directs visitors to Exit 3 of Seomun Market Station on Daegu Metro Line 3.
The map uses actual roads, market District 1 and 2 buildings, the station center and a tourism reference point. Marker 1 is the station center, not Exit 3. It does not establish a stall entrance, exact stage position or measured walking route.

Food and daytime sightseeing
KTO’s daytime food examples include kalguksu, knife-cut noodle soup, and napjak mandu, thin pan-fried Daegu dumplings. Night-market examples include skewers and makchang, a grilled offal dish. The Korean names are 칼국수, 납작만두 and 막창.
These are examples from the market introduction, not a live menu for every stall. Choose using the seller’s displayed price, ingredients and payment methods. The destination listing says cards are accepted, which does not establish every stall’s payment setup.
If you have time between shopping and the night market, you can combine the Dongsan Cheongna Hill and Modern Culture Alley area near the market. Museums and exhibition spaces have separate hours; night-market operation does not imply late admission there.
