Jeju Dongmun Market: night stalls, daytime food and airport buses
Visit Jeju’s seasonal table starts the night market at 19:00 in May–October and 18:00 in November–April, ending at midnight or earlier if ingredients sell out. Plan a meal at Jangchun or Sarang Bunsik separately from the night stalls: the restaurants close earlier.
- The food alley lies between gates 8 and 10; night stalls are near gate 8.
- Sarang Bunsik closes Monday–Wednesday and may sell out early.
- Midnight market closing is separate from the last airport bus.
Dongmun Market (동문시장) is in the old centre of Jeju City, on the north side of Jeju Island. The traditional market’s tourism address is 관덕로14길20, 20 Gwandeok-ro 14-gil. The traditional market, Dongmun Market corporation building, fish market and individual restaurants have separate schedules.

Night opening times and numbered gates
Visit Jeju’s seasonal hours specify 19:00 for May–October and 18:00 for November–April. The introductory text on the same page says 18:00 without that distinction. For an October visit, plan around the seasonal table’s 19:00; contact the market at 064-752-3001 if you need an earlier opening confirmed.
The market and night stalls are listed as open year-round, including holidays. Midnight is not a promise that every dish remains available: the night listing explicitly allows closing when ingredients sell out.
The traditional market’s 07:00–21:00 is an average and varies by shop. The separately listed Dongmun Market corporation building at 16 Dongmun-ro (동문로16) has 08:00–21:00 hours. Korea Tourism Organization also gives shop-specific hours and closing days for the public and fish markets.
There are 12 gates. Visit Jeju places the food alley between gates 8 and 10 and the night market near gate 8. Map point 1 is the tourism listing’s market reference coordinate, not a verified gate 8 entrance.
Two restaurants for daytime meals
| Place | Listed hours | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Traditional market average | 07:00–21:00 | Varies by shop |
| Dongmun corporation building | 08:00–21:00 | Separate listing at 16 Dongmun-ro |
| Jangchun | 08:00–19:00 | Confirm last orders and temporary closures |
| Sarang Bunsik | Thu–Sun 10:30–18:30 | Closed Mon–Wed; may sell out early |
Jangchun (장춘식당), 9-6 Dongmun-ro 4-gil (동문로4길9-6), 064-757-2548, is a Jeju food restaurant near gate 10. Visit Jeju lists 08:00–19:00 and describes sea-urchin broth plus grilled or braised mackerel and hairtail, a long silver fish. Ask separately about last orders and temporary closures.
Sarang Bunsik (사랑분식), 12 Dongmun-ro 4-gil (동문로4길12), 064-757-5058, lists Thursday–Sunday 10:30–18:30, regular closure Monday–Wednesday and early closing when ingredients sell out. Its Sarang-sik is modakchigi: a shared plate combining tteokbokki, spicy rice cakes, with dumplings, eggs, fish cakes and gimbap, seaweed rice rolls.
Both schedules differ from the night stalls. In May–October, Sarang’s 18:30 closing precedes the night market’s 19:00 opening by 30 minutes. For a restaurant meal followed by night stalls, arrive comfortably before restaurant closing. Check current portions, prices and availability when ordering.
In May–October, arriving after the 19:00 night-market opening is too late for a meal at these two restaurants. In November–April, the 18:00 opening leaves a window before their listed closing times, but last orders and sell-outs still need separate checks.
Bus 325 from the airport and the return table
From Jeju International Airport, take bus 325 towards Hamdeok (함덕): airport → Yongdam junction → Gwandeokjeong → Dongmun Rotary (동문로터리). For the airport return, bus 325 towards Halla Arboretum (한라수목원) follows Dongmun Rotary → Gwandeokjeong → Yongdam junction → airport. Check the destination as well as the route number.
The official table took effect on 24 June 2026. Its final airport-bound row lists Dongmun Rotary 21:53 and airport 22:08, but the same page’s summary says last bus 21:20. Because these disagree, do not rely on 21:53 as a confirmed last service. Check the live table and bus location, and contact operator Geukdong at 064-753-0310.
The Gomaroma diversion on 9 October 2026, 16:00–17:30, was a notice for that past event. It named routes 43-2, 332, 346, 351, 415, 422, 425 and 466, excluding 325. Do not apply that past diversion to a current visit; follow changes for the visit date.
The night market’s midnight closing does not secure a bus home. Before ordering, confirm the Dongmun Rotary stop name, travel direction and remaining service. Scheduled times are not guarantees for airport check-in or actual arrival.
Market locations and Sanjicheon stream
Point 1 is the traditional market’s tourism reference; 2 is Jangchun; 3 is Sarang Bunsik; 4 is Sanjicheon. Points 5 and 6 are two OSM-registered stops around Dongmun Rotary. Match the stop reference and current bus direction with signs and Jeju Bus Information.
Sanjicheon (산지천) flows beside the market towards Jeju harbour, offering a nearby old-town stop before or after eating. The map shows registered streets and stream features; it is not a walking route checked for crossings, construction or entrances.
The photograph shows a covered fish-selling aisle in Dongmun on 15 April 2026. It is not a picture of the night-food stalls or evidence of current stock and opening.
