Sokcho Central Market: shop hours, food alleys and parking
Korea Tourism Organization’s listing, updated 2 October 2026, gives 08:00–24:00 but says hours and closing days vary by shop. The market tourist information office opens 09:00–18:00, with a 12:00–13:00 break. Public market parking is free for the first 20 minutes, then KRW 400 for the next 10 minutes and KRW 200 per further 10 minutes.
- A market-wide listing does not establish a chicken or sausage stall’s closing time.
- Distinguish Mansuk’s two market addresses from its telephone service hours.
- Use the public tariff for Subok-ro 191; shopping coupons depend on the named car park.
Sokcho Central Market is in Sokcho on Gangwon’s east coast. Its Korean name is 속초관광수산시장, also called 속초중앙시장. Search for 중앙로147번길 12. It is a different destination from Daepo Port’s seafood market.
Market, information and telephone hours
| Service | Listed hours | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| General market listing | 08:00–24:00 | Opening hours and closing days vary by shop |
| Market tourist information | 09:00–18:00 | Break 12:00–13:00 |
| Mansuk customer-service phone | 09:00–18:30 | Limited service 12:00–13:00; not retail shop hours |
The general market hours come from the tourism listing updated 2 October 2026. That page also says closing days vary by shop. If one particular chicken or sausage stall is the reason for a late visit, confirm its opening and last-order times for that day.
The tourist information office follows its own timetable even while shops are trading. The city’s guide, updated 7 July 2026, lists the market office at 033-639-2568. Plan enquiries outside its lunch break.
For Mansuk telephone enquiries, call 1577-9042 during 09:00–18:30; service is limited at 12:00–13:00. Check visiting hours with the specific market branch, separately from these customer-service hours.
Food alleys and building floors
Look for chicken and sundae alleys for prepared food, the fruit alley for produce and the salted-seafood alley for preserved seafood. The chicken alley also includes raw-chicken sellers, so not every stall sells a ready-to-eat snack.
Dakgangjeong is fried chicken coated in a sweet, spicy sauce. Ojingeo sundae is squid stuffed with a filling; Abai sundae is a stuffed sausage associated with Sokcho’s displaced North Korean community. Distinguish takeaway snacks from sit-down dishes such as sundaeguk, a sausage soup.
The market building has a raw-fish dining centre on B1, food, vegetables and clothing on 1F, and clothing, household goods and Hanaro Mart on 2F. Before ordering fish, ask for the total for your chosen fish, party size and table setting. Compare each food stall’s displayed menu and portion price.
Mansuk’s official addresses are market branch 1 at 중앙로147번길 16, unit 141, and market branch 2 at 중앙로129번길 35-26. Choose the branch before navigating. The official branch links below show which address you are heading to.

Public parking and shopping coupons
The municipal operator lists 관광수산시장 대형주차장 at 수복로 191 (191 Subok-ro), with 534 marked spaces. Capacity is not a promise that a space will be free when you arrive.
The base tariff checked on 17 October 2026 is: first 20 minutes free; the following 10 minutes KRW 400; each further 10 minutes KRW 200; daily fee KRW 7,000. The diagram shows the undiscounted tariff bands without assuming partial-minute rounding or combined discounts.
If a shop gives you a parking coupon, check the exact car park and its conditions. A market shopping-coupon notice does not make every municipal car park free. Match the shop’s coupon to the signs at the car park you entered. Public parking enquiries: 033-630-6230.
Bus stop, market and Abai Village
For a bus stop, search for 관광수산시장. The map separates the registered stop from the market area. The market polygon is not a stall plan or the coordinate of a particular entrance.
The Gaetbae ferry landing (갯배선착장) and Abai Village (아바이마을) are east of the market. They are useful nearby place names for extending a food visit. The map does not establish ferry operating times or a boarding queue. Find Sokcho in the Gangwon travel list for more regional context.
The tourism listing identifies a nursing room at the customer support centre and also lists a lift. For a specific stall with a stroller or wheelchair, also check the narrow alley and the shop’s own access conditions. Facilities in one building do not establish access through every market passage.
