Ikseon-dong: Mi-ji and Ho-soo’s first date

Seoul Tourism Organization’s August 13, 2025 newsletter identifies Ikseon-dong as the setting for Mi-ji and Ho-soo’s first date in Our Unwritten Seoul. It does not identify an exact café or where the actors stood. Treat the scene as a reason to explore the neighborhood rather than a precise shot-recreation route.

Hanok—traditional Korean houses—here accommodate cafés, restaurants and shops. Ikseon-dong suits a walk with somewhere to sit afterward. Pick a business and check its hours for the day; access to a street does not mean every shop is open.

Bukchon: Rumi and Jinu’s scenes

Netflix’s official locations guide connects Bukchon to Rumi and Jinu’s first encounter and the “Free” scene in KPop Demon Hunters. The animated setting reimagines a real Seoul neighborhood. This is not a live-action filming location or permission to climb onto a particular roof.

People live in Bukchon. Keep to public paths, speak quietly, leave doorways clear and avoid photographing inside homes through open doors or windows.

Finish red-zone sightseeing before 17:00

Seoul Tourism Organization lists Bukchon visiting hours as 10:00–17:00 every day. In the designated red zone around Bukchon-ro 11-gil, entry for tourism is restricted from 17:00 until 10:00 the following day. Plan the lane walk for daytime. This restriction does not mean that all of Bukchon closes at 17:00.

Jongno District’s February 28, 2025 announcement states that a KRW 100,000 fine for violating tourist visiting hours took effect on March 1, 2025. Shop customers and overnight guests may fall within exceptions, but sightseeing during restricted hours can still incur a fine. These are pedestrian tourism rules, separate from charter-bus traffic rules.

Subway access and Korean map names

Ikseon-dong: the official place guide points to Exit 4 of Jongno 3-ga Station on Seoul Subway Lines 1, 3 and 5. Useful map searches are 종로3가역 (Jongno 3-ga Station) and 익선동 (Ikseon-dong).

Bukchon: the official listing points to Exit 3 of Anguk Station on Line 3 and the area around Bukchon Traditional Culture Center at 37 Gyedong-gil. Search 안국역 (Anguk Station), 북촌문화센터 (Bukchon Traditional Culture Center) or 북촌한옥마을 (Bukchon Hanok Village). The center’s address is not an entrance to every red-zone lane.
